The 23rd World Congress of Philosophy in Athens

The 23rd World Congress of Philosophy is been held in Athens, between August 4th and August 10th. Its main subject being: “Philosophy as inquiry and way of life”. More than 2000 philosophers from 105 countries around the globe are present in Athens, in order to participate in the Congress.

Special Philosophical Meetings will be held at different historically and philosophically important sites of Athens such as Plato’s Academy, Aristotle’s Lyceum and the hill of Pnyx.

World Congresses of Philosophy are held once every five years by International Federation of Philosophical Societies FISP in collaboration with its members.

The Congress opened officially last night at Odeon of Herodes Atticus, where Greek minister of Culture, Panos Panagiotopoulos received a loud jeering when he addressed the audience, and especially when he said the phrase: “Greeks can learn to leave with less”.
