The Supreme Court rejected the request by Nikos Romanos for a revocation of the decree of the Piraeus Judicial Council, against his application for furlough in order to attend his course at a Technical Education Institute. Minister of JusticeHaralambos Athanasiou commented in Parliament today that he cannot interfere with the work of justice. However, as he admitted, what the young prisoner is asking for is not against existing laws.
The Law School of the Athens Kapodistrian University as well as the headquarters of The Aristotle University of Thessalonica and several other public buildings are currently occupied by supporters of Nickos Romanos.
“Education is hope and not a threat for social rehabilitation” is mentioned in a declaration issued by the Senate of The Aristotle University of Thessalonica, supporting the request of Romanos.
The first vote inthe Presidential elections is scheduled for the 17thof December. If necessary, the process will be repeated on the 23rd of December and a final vote will be called on the 29th of December. This time a three fifths majority will be needed, namely 180 votes.

Mr. Syrigos had come with a small bus and offered to take 30 people, preferably women and small children, to a shelter provided by mayor of Athens Kaminis. The General Secretary of Immigration’s proposal was refused as he made clear that the Greek State does not intend to supply them with travel documents that will allow them to travel to Europe, although it their right as they are refugees coming from a war zone .
The employees of the Thessalonica underground have decided to go on repeated 24-hour strikes, as there is no provision for their jobs while the fate of the entire project is uncertain. Early this morning the strikers closed down the site and the consortium headquarters in the area of the New Railway Station.
Administrative staff of the Athens Kapodistrian University is planning a blockage of the function of the university, escalating their mobilizations in view of the expiry of their availability period and against the redundancies awaiting them.
Zero income was declared by 65% of the citizens who have applied for the Minimum Guaranteed Income provision.
Pensioners unions are organizing a protest tomorrow 10th of December in front of the treasury department in Syntagma at 6p.m. demanding the reinstatement of the Christmas bonus in pensions and the abolition of austerity measures.
One more attempted murder of an unarmed 28year old Afro-American by a white police officer in Florida ignites new protests and clashes with the police. Eye witnesses refer that the victim, who is currently hospitalized in a critical condition, had lifted his hands up when he was shot.
