Angeliki Papandreou with the old group of friends of Alekton of K. Kartelias and her new friends in a performance “of love and of protest” Tuesday 20-8, 21.30 at the ERT Building – Agia Paraskevi.
“Because Greece as a legacy, as a challenge and as a will, has always been pushing us to become better. And, by forgetting it, by depriving the future generations of the right to get to know its legacy and its stance, we shall minimise the possibility of a different world being built in the future, something that shall not be simply the twisted product of oppression and lie. And because every step man has taken towards civilisation has made him indebted towards Greece.”
Text fragment by the famous Spanish Hellenist Pedro Olalla, from a meeting against the abolition of Greek language lessons in the schools of Spain, which proves that the Spanish love Greece more than the Greeks themselves.

“ “Bohemes”, artists, we, musicians, but at the same time working teachers, parents, pupils and students shall be there. At our own Taksim Square, our own Self-Organisation square, to denounde with our music and our singing, the Black Silence of ERT, of our own Greek voice, our cultural history of 75 whole years.
We shall be there, all together, private and public sector of every age, not only for our voice and agony to be heard, but also to demand that the unprecedented demolition of our human dignity and pride stops.
We shall be there to remember the virtue of resistance, the courage of disobedience, the benefit of solidarity, our debt towards our history.
We shall be there to declare that we are determined to stop the selloff of every public commodity and them being granted to private interests, alien and hostile to our people’s interests.
We have had enough!
Let us stop the “aid packages”, the memorandums and the unexplained debts, that have made us beggars in a position of supplication and apathy. Let us stop the “like” signing on social websites, the unjustifiable passivity and let us unite our voices and souls under the Full Moon of August.
And, by singing our agonies and passions, let us send a message to the planet’s powerful, inside and outside the borders of our
“beautiful and strange homeland”.
How Greece of Seferis, Elytis and Varnalis, of Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis, but also of Manos Loizos and Nikos Papazoglou and of so many more innumerable “rocks” of our cultural legacy, is alive in our souls.”
