The employees of ERT are HERE

The employees of ERT are HERE. With their unions they came in a meeting with Mr Kapsis, the fourth in a row where they submitted an integrated and realistic proposal.

A proposal that takes into account:

·         The new conditions created by the new law on NERIT regarding the future of the Public Radio-Television.

·         The illegal proclamation of five hundred eighty nine (589) employment positions for a transition public broadcaster.

·         The new status that has been created by the forty four (44) days of the uninterrupted presence of the ERT employees producing a comprehensive high level program.

On the above basis, the employees of ERT suggested:

·         The immediate launching of the new institutional entity of the Public Radio-Television that will succeed ERT, operating from the premises of ERT.

·         The program will be produced by all the employees of ERT.

·         The retirement of those wishing it will be completed with rapid procedures.

·       NERIT will function as required by the institutional framework. Within a reasonable period of time, based on meaningful dialogues among independent institutions and the employees' unions, the new organization chart will be formed and finalized.

This proposal:

·         Provides to the government a complete solution in agreement with the ruling of the Council of State.

·         Protects the rights of the ERT's employees, among them the fundamental right to work.

·         Does no burden the Greek citizens not a single euro (the retirements burden only the company).

·         Provides the society with a truly Public Radio-Television Entity in less period of time than the formation of the transitional broadcaster that only provokes complications to the government as well to the employees. It is an broadcasting entity responding to society's needs and to the obligations that a public radio-television should satisfy (culture, information, entertainment, athletics).

The employees and their unions confronted intolerance and negativity on behalf of the other side. While Mr Kapsis replied that he "does take the proposal into account" when he was asked to transfer it to the government he stated twice that he will not do so.

Why Mr Kapsis rejects every proposal constituting solution?

The PanHellenic Union of the Employees of ERT (POSPERT) and the Journalists' Union of the Athens Daily Newspapers (ESHEA), following Mr Kapsis's negative stance have asked for a meeting with the representatives of the parties that form the coalition government and the involved ministers.
