Leader of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras visited Arta, Ioannina and Agrinion during his campaign for the elections.He received an especially warm and massive welcome in his place of origin Arta.

“We are not asking for a blank check from the Greek people. We are asking to have the absolute majority in Parliament so as to have our hands untied in the crucial negotiations. If SYRIZA can make it, Greece will make it”, said Alexis Tsipras stressing that “we are stretching the hand out to any citizen, whether politically right or left, as the New Day needs us all united, claiming what Greece deserves and what the Greek people deserve”.


The policies of SYRIZA will destroy the middle class”, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras pointed out in an interview to the weekend issue of newspaper “Ta Nea” and stressed he was opposed to a European Conference on the debt, on the grounds that “it will mess things up for Greece”.

The middle class has already been overpowered by the policies of Mr. Samaras, said Alexis Tsipras in his speech in Ioannina, answering the Prime Minister’s allegations. He added that SYRIZA is coming to support the middle class and lower incomes.


According to a poll by Kapa Research for the Sunday newspaper “To Vima”, SYRIZA is 3.1% ahead of New Democracy. In intended vote SYRIZA has 31.2%, New Democracy 28.1%, To Potami 5.4%, the Communist Party 4.9%, Golden Dawn 4.7%, Independent Greeks 2.7% and KIDISO 2.7%.


Another poll by Metron Analysis for the newspaper Parapolitika gives a lead of 4.6%to Syriza.

Leader of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos called upon the progressive and democratic voters to support his party, arguing that “they may fear SYRIZA could possibly destabilize the country, but also cannot identify with New Democracy” during his speech yesterday in the “Papastratio” hall in Agrinio. Today he will speak in a political event in Giannena.


Secretary General of the Greek Communist Party attacked New Democracy and SYRIZA on their proposals for tax reforms. “It doesn’t matter how they are going to name the new taxes, which new taxes will take the place of the old ones. What matters is that they both swear in the name of balanced budgets that the E.U. demands from all of the member states.


“We are the guarantees of Tomorrow”, stated Panos Kammenos on behalf of the Independent Greeks in a speech in Katerini. He said the propaganda against the “lost vote” doesn’t work any more and added that “a vote is lost if it is for New Democracy and PASOK which are finished”.

The unions of workers in the Thessalonica Underground have asked to meet the Prime Minister as well as other political leaders who are planning to visit Thessalonica in order to inform them on the problems of the project and their proposals.

In Ukraine Donetsk International Airport was the scene of intense fighting as separatists attempted to gain control and to dislodge Ukrainian troops. Clashes have escalated in recent days, with three Ukrainian soldiers killed and 18 wounded.
